Can we overdraft the account when a non-member brings in an on-us check to cash and the member has funds in the saving account but not the checking account?

The system will overdraft automatically if the member has available funds in the savings or O/D LOC and has overdraft protection.

To avoid drawing the member negative, you will need to find out whether they have overdraft protection. To do this, go to the members account:

Click on the checking account→ Codes/Flags/Miscellaneous tab→ bottom right Overdraft Path will show if they have OD protection and where it will pull from. The account opening default is 3-LOC / 01 Shares if they do not have a LOC it will pull from the shares. If they opted out of OD Protection all together it will read No Overdraft or Custom Only
