How to send a fax through email

To send a fax by email:

Note: SASI has not been updated to reflect this information. It will be available in SASI at a later date.

 

  1. Change the “From” field to your Branch/Department email address or fax@oregonianscu.com.  

Instructions to show “From” field are included below.

Note: Sam Launius and Juergen Kanngiesser, you will NOT need to change your email address to Fax by Email as your fax numbers are assigned to your individual email address.

 

  1. In the “To:” field enter, the 10 digit number fax followed by @sterlingfax.net.

 

  1. As before the email is the fax cover page and attached documents have to be in pdf format. If not, print document to Kofax PDF Printer, save, and then attached the pdf copy for faxing. You may attach multiple pdf files.

 

Receiving a fax:

 

A fax will be delivered by email to Public Folders; Group Email; or the individual based on fax number.

Note: For branches where the faxes would print on the copier, the faxes will now be in your branch public folder. Milwaukie Admin Fax Number is not included in the Fax By Email solution and remains a traditional fax line connected to Admin copier.

 

Branches and Department Fax email addresses may be found in MyGlue:

Note: Everyone has been given access to MyGlue and should be using MyGlue to store their work related passwords. Information on accessing MyGlue is available in SASI.

If you are not sure which email address to use as the “From” email address, use the fax@oregonianscu.com email address which will work for all users.

 

How to show the “From:” field and set a different from email address:

 

  1. Start a new email

  1. Under Options, click From to show field

  1. Select From dropdown menu and select Other Email Address

  1. Enter the email for your branch/department public folder or group email and click OK. 

Note: If you are unsure what email address to use, use fax@oregonianscu.com which everyone is able to use.

  1. You will see the email in the From field and are ready to enter the fax number @ sterlingfax.net.

Additional Information:

 

  • Fax status reports will go to the Public Folder, Group or Individual email address and will be from Fax Server, email address of noreply@sterlingfax.net and have the [EXTERNAL EMAIL] at the top of the email body.

  • The second time you access the From field dropdown, you will find the email address previously used and only need to select it.

  • If you attempt to send a fax from your email address, the email will not be sent and you will receive an Undeliverable email response.

Note: Exceptions are Sam Launius and Juergen Kanngiesser.

  • If you have less than or more than 10 digit before @sterlingfax.net,  the email will not be sent:

 

  • Sam and Juergen using their individual email address will receive the undeliverable emails similar to the one above.

 

  • Everyone else will NOT receive an undeliverable email. If you do not see an email that your fax was Delivered or Not Delivered within 15 minutes. Please check that you have used 10 digits. 

 

  1. If the email address does not have ten digits, correct the email address to have 10 digits and resend.

 

  1. If the email address does have 10 digits, then contact IT x8111 to help find and resolve the issue.
